Meet the Artist

I’m Isabella I am a multi disciplined artist based in downtown Chicago. The mediums I work with include graphic design, photography, fiber arts, and painting. Interlock is a current series that I have been working on and pulls a lot of inspiration from the current events in my life or things I find impactful. In this blog, I hope to share what inspires me to create and what I am currently working on with Interlock.

In the 1960s the Fiber Art Movement began to blur the lines between craft and fine art, read more to learn about some of the movements history and how it inspires me as a current fiber and visual artist.

I Used to Live There Too is a representation of siblings as they grow independently from their family. Pulling from “empty nester” the family ties are shown through twigs and string. As the older sibling grows the connections grow distant at the same time the younger sibling is still at home more connected to the family. Regardless of each sibling’s family ties they will always be connected through blood; this intrinsic connection is illustrated through the physical contact between the hoops through one stitch forcing them together.
